Discover Kyoto’s Sake Through ‘Rice’ — sake rice exhibition and paid tasting days (Day 1 of 6)
Experience the flavors of Kyoto at the 2nd Kyoto Station Building Art Festival! This special event shines a spotlight on Kyoto Prefecture's renowned sake rice varieties, 'Iwai' and 'Kyoto no Kagayaki.' Visitors can enjoy a free, informative exhibition about these unique types of rice and their place in sake brewing, with educational displays open throughout the festival. On six select days, savor sake tastings crafted from these rice varieties by nine local Kyoto breweries—it's a rare opportunity to directly taste how the rice influences sake flavor. Single tasting pours are offered for just ¥200, or try a trio for ¥500. Don’t miss the opening day's talk session, exploring the collaboration between Kyoto farmers and sake makers, and the special qualities of local rice. Complete a survey during your visit and receive a small gift (while supplies last). Exhibition admission is free; tasting events are pay-as-you-go. The event takes place on the 2nd floor in Kyoto Station Building's North-South Concourse, with the talk session at the 1st Floor Station Plaza.
