Discover the art of cyanotype with WaterShed Resident Artist Ingrid Raphaël during this hands-on workshop series. Participants will use archival images of waterways and creek burials from the late 19th to early 20th century to create their own cyanotype designs. The experience begins with an introduction to the artist’s research on flooding in Germantown, followed by a meditation ceremony at the last remaining vestige of the Wingohocking Creek in Awbury Arboretum. Informed by Ingrid Raphaël’s research for an upcoming film, this workshop is a space for contemplation, reclamation, collaboration, and creative experimentation focused on ecological repair and Black memory. The second session on May 16 will involve collaging and sewing prints into a collaborative artwork for public display at WaterShed as part of their Resident Artist Program.
