Join the Sake Scholar Course in San Francisco, California from Wednesday through Friday, September 24-26, 2025, at the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California (JCCC). This advanced program features three full days of class, curated tastings, and networking opportunities.
Delve into the 47 prefectures of Japan and their sake and shochu, learning about regionalities, history, geography, ingredients, and brewing techniques. Enjoy numerous sake tastings and case studies exploring broader and detailed regional characteristics.
Instructors Michael Tremblay and Kerry Jo Rizzo will lead the classes with sessions from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the first day, and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on the following days. The examination for this course is a 100-question multiple choice test, with a minimum 75% required to pass, administered online a few weeks after the course. Prerequisites include any advanced sake certifications (SPC, ASP, WSET Level 2/3 Award in Sake, International Kikizake-shi, Sake Diploma, Certified Sake Sommelier).
Textbooks are provided on Day One. Tuition is $1295 CAD (~$906 USD*), refundable under certain conditions before specified deadlines. Students will also receive a special discount for Sake Day San Francisco, scheduled on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Registration opens February 10, 2025.
